Hi guys! I am an aspiring CNC technician (apprentice). I am currently doing training in the aerospace sector and the machines we are using run Siemens 840d. During my short time so far using our milling machine I have seen the command 'SUPA' used quite frequently. What does this mean? and is it siemens or machine specific?
Not sure of the meaning but one word on the Siemens control, if the 840D is anything like the earlier versions, occasionally the hard drive would crash, in this case it is imperative to clone a copy of the HD as Siemens used to charge a grand to replace a loaded drive.

SUPA is Siemens specific. It stands for SUPress All.
It is non modal G-Code suppressing "all" active zero offsets or more accurately all frames for one block-
I wrote "all" in quotes because you may define the exact behaviour with machine data (for example you can define whether the offset of the currently active tool is to be ignored or not).
SUPA is most often used when moving to the point for doing a tool change.
