Mach 3 scaling issue? not sure if its machine.

hey.. waiting for my machine to get fixed buy i noticed something odd happening when i import g-code into the Mach3 on this machine... everything is almost double scale... not the normal 10x scale from mm to inches, but a smaller almost doubling. If i manually move the X axis in the co-ordinates window from zero inches to +1 inches, that plus 1 inch measures out to 1.3 inches with my calipers.

If i take the same mach3 gcode file and load it into another machine here, the scale is perfect, so the problem seems to be just the way this machine is configured ( from the factory )

any ideas?

I have run into the same situation. Between my 3 computers running Mach3, each one has different (steps per inch) settings under motor tuning for the same cnc machine.

I have always wondered about that since backing up my mach settings for the motor tuning won't apply on another pc.

so do i screw around with the steps per inch settings to fix it?

I had to calibrate each axis "steps per inch" on each one of my computers. The settings turned out different on each one of them. I also had a spare harddrive that I setup to use on one of the computers just in case the original harddrive died and I had to do the same thing there.

I am curious to know if this situation has occurred to others. I may post this question on the mach support forum to see if an answer is already available or can be found...
