Need some wiring advice for my new stepper drive
So I got a new closed loop stepper driver and it has an output pin to communicate fault conditions back to the controller. Below is the diagram in the manual for hooking up this pin, but I'm not sure what size resistor I need. Can any of you electronic guru's advise how I calculate the resistor value I need?
Thanks

Re: Need some wiring advice for my new stepper drive
Which controller do you have? It may already have the necessary pullup resistor. Try manually shorting the input and see if the controller reacts to it.
Re: Need some wiring advice for my new stepper drive
Right now this will be hooked to an arduino, but in the future it will be connected to a generic Chinese breakout board.
Re: Need some wiring advice for my new stepper drive
Use a 10Kohm resistor, that will do the job.
For 5Volt ( like the Arduino ) anything from 1Kohm until 100 Kohm is fine
Re: Need some wiring advice for my new stepper drive
Thanks. I have some 4.7k ohm resistors. I'll use that.
Thanks again
