Intermittent Issue With Z Probing Direction - UCCNC & UC300ETH-LPT5
Using a CNCRouterParts PRO4848, I recently converted from the standard Smoothstepper/Mach3 to UCCNC and the UC300ETH-LPT5 with UCCNC Screenset 2017. I'm using the probing macro supplied in this thread...

Conversion was fairly uneventful and everything initially work very well. A few weeks ago, I was measuring tool length using "Auto Zero Initialize" and the tool started moving upwards. I checked all the setting and confirmed that nothing changed. Restarted UCCNC with no change. Shut down and restarted everything and still had the same problem. I needed to cut a project , so I just set the Z-workpiece manually. Everything cut fine, so I'm sure it's strictly a probing based issue. When I tried again a few days later, probing worked as expected. Well it happened again yesterday and I'm scratching my head. Any ideas?

So, it worked fine for a while, and then started going backwards?
Did anything change in your system?
Do you by chance have a CNC Drive pendant? A small number of people with these pendants have had issues with the probing macros.
I don't believe I've ever heard of this happening to anyone.
The way the probing works, is the macro first reads the Z axis DRO. It then subtracts the Firs Probe Distance, and tells the machine to probe to that position. So it should always probe downwards.
When it's moving up, is the Z axis DRO value increasing?
Do you ever have any other issues with Z axis direction? A bad connection on the Z axis dir wire could possibly cause this.
Can you post a screenshot of the Auto Zero settings, and the run screen DRO's when you start to probe?

Thanks for the reply Gerry. I really like your Screenset.
Yes. I am using a VistaCNC iMach3 P4-S. I hadn't thought of this as a possible cause. I do use the pendant to move to the tool measurement position. Have you seen any resolution to the probing macro when used with a pendant?
DRO values work as expected.

Try disabling the pendant plugin and see if the probing will then work correctly. Restart UCCNC after disabling the pendant.
