Dataserver technical info - Fanuc 18MC

Hi all,
I am just wondering if anybody can direct me to information regarding the communication protocol between Dataserver and CNC boards, and the pinout of the backplane connectors.

To clarify, the dataserver board in my 18MC has died. This a home-shop machine and the cost of obtaining a replacement board here in NZ is prohibitively expensive.
I do embedded programming, so for fun I would like to attempt to interface in something a bit more modern, available and affordable to act as the dataserver, but for that I require said technical info.

I understand if this is proprietary Fanuc info that no one can give me, but thought I would ask anyway.
