i cut a channel in my table

I need to vent to people who understand. I was cutting holes and pockets for my fixture mounts and forgot to raise the z axis. I was doing the G-code manually as it was really simple stuff. Crap :(

I guess this is where I will put my touch plate. It was going to go somewhere else but I can't have this big ugly cut in my table.

It was moving at 150ipm to the next location. It moved 2.130" before I was able to stop it with the e-stop button. I normally keep my hand on the button at all times when I'm doing manual code execution, but it was at my side this time. I am surprised I got to it that fast - 0.852 seconds = 2.130" @ 150ipm.

Sigh...

Sorry to hear that, I hope it only got your pride, I remember once a guy down at the shop did that with a Mori Seiki using a kennametal kssm indexable 8 inch shell mill about 1/2 inch deep about 1 inch long on a job that took several hours to set up. I thought I was looking at a ghost, So I know your not alone, and it is only wood, could have been worse.

Ouch. Yeah, that sounds much worse. Thankfully I didn't cut my ball screw in half (it is right below this cut) and the bit didn't break either. You can see it was flexing because it straightened out when it stopped moving.

Bondo is great i have done this a couple of time in the suction bed of my router.

you could always make it into a design, or a feature, half of the coolest stuff i ever did came from having to cover up mistakes. (sometimes they can be good things) the telephone was an accident.


you could also use a t slot cutter and make them all pockets for bolts so you can slide the bolt in and it wont spin, then you can use them as tie down points.


or you could flip the whole sheet over.

You should see MY cut up table...

Save some MDF dust, mix it with a drop of white glue or carpenters glue until it is a semi-dry paste and plug the hole and slot with it. When dry, sand it flush. Cheap filler.
