Need help with my electronics for a DIY CNC router

Hi Good Day to all,
I decided to build my own cnc router and i got a package off ebay with the following.
-Brake out Board
-Longs S-201-60 Power supply (+60v 3.5A)
-Longs DM860A Driver
-Longs Stepper motor model 34HST9805-37B2
-used 5v supply from pc power supply

i am using Mach3 to run it, i have windows 7 32bit installed on a dedicated pc for this project.

I hooked it up but got no movement at all, i am not even sure if i hooked it up correctly, or if i configured mach 3 correctly. Is it possible for someone to guide me through this wiring/ config process?

Hi Saalih,

One question: Does your version of Windows 7 permit you to use a parallel port. All the ones I have seen do not recognize the parallel port, even if you add a board.
I had to use Windows XP. Then everything went fine afterwards.

An Ethernet Smooth Stepper will allow you to use windows 7 and Mach3.

thanks for the replies.... my windows 7 sees the lpt port and also the driver for mach3 installs without any problem.... i think the first part to start off is with the wiring... i dont know how to set the dip switches on my driver... can anyone help me with that?

Looks like the dip switch settings are listed on the front of the driver

indeed it is John, however i dont know what is required for my motor.... :( .... the motor i have is Longs Stepper motor model 34HST9805-37B2.... forgive me i am totally new to this .....

um, says 2 amps per phase, depends on how your going to wire it I think as to how many amps to set it for, perhaps someone more knowledgeable will jump in.

use a volt meter and test for the correct signal at each pin at the end of you parallel port, or at each terminal of your breakout board. If the signals are not making it out to the breakout board, nothing will ever happen. The dip switch positions should not matter if you are just trying to bench test your motors without any real load. that show how to pin out your parallel port. After that...it is up to you to configure the pins correctly and put the wires in the correct spot. but if you still have questions about that we can certainly help to
