Help: Wiring Nema 34 12N.m Hybrid Stepper with 2HSS86H Controller
Hi Gang!
So, I'm trying to wire up this Nema 34 Closed Loop Stepper (86J18156EC-1000-LS-14-HBL) to a 2HSS86H controller. I've read the short PDF. (see photo) The Driver shows AC 24c to 75v or DC 30V to 110v.
I have a 70v 400 watt switching PSU.
The problem is it is labeled as AC1 and AC2. I'm assuming since I could feed this AC, there is a bridge rectifier inside. Nowhere does it specify which connector I should use for DC + and -. I don't want to let out the blue smoke.
Also, I've never used a closed loop. there are 6 wires I guess for the encoder. Any tips.
I just need to test if everything actually works.
Thanks
Randy

You can connect either way, the bridge rectifier is symmetrical. When connected to DC it only conducts in one direction rather than both as when connected to AC.
Yes, the 6 wires are for the encoder, connect as shown in the manual. And I hope you have better luck finding a manual for that motor than I did.

So you have used this motor before? I want to give it a try directly turning the shaft of the wheel hub. Just curious how much power it needs.

To help in the future, I found a much better manual here:
User Manual -Support-Shenzhen Just Motion Control Electromechanics Co., Ltd.
Better more specific wiring diagram.
Thanks!!

No, I have not used any of the hybrid steppers yet. For most of my projects I use ClearPath or DMM Tech hardware, or in some others just use steppers.
Were you able to find a manual for the motor?
