V-bit rough fiinish in softwood
Hi there,
I 'm facing a lot of tear off in soft wood (spuce) using V bits and ball nose. I was wondering if someone could advice me on what might be my mistake here. I've been using bits of other shape than "V" and ballnose with great results and I can't figure why I'm struggling with these. I tried many different spindle speed and feed rate setups with no good result.

Thank you for you help!

Realize the tip of a ball-nose cutter has a zero velocity and no rake.
Re: V-bit rough fiinish in softwood
thank you bostosh for the answer but as you can see on the picture the roughness isn't only at the tip.. My interrogation is that get a very smooth finish when I use a quarter round bit or other cabinet bits. I wonder if it's a matter of settings or am I missing something here.. I would like to be able to use v-bits to make nice patterns playing on the Z axis.
