VF2 Work Light Replacement
Hey all. I normally am on this forum in the Cincinnati section. However my 2015 VF2 has an LED Worklight that went out today. Didint realize how much light those put out until now, I feel like Im working in a cave haha With this being said, the current LED lights that are in there are LE Brand 20W IP66 lights. The HAAS parts site tells me the part number is 93-32-0404 and costs $95. I found old postings of the LE 20W IP66 lights for sale going for $16, however they are out of stock and also discontinued sadly. I can only seem to find IP65 replacement lights from LE. I was hoping to save a few bucks and buy right from the Manufacturer of the lights, but they are not IP66(more water tight then IP65). Are newer HAAS machines using a different manufacturer that has IP66 rating, or are they still using LE brand but IP65 lighting? I can get LE 20W IP65 lights for $15, all I have to do is swap out the pigtails for the Haas pigtail. I hope someone has swapped these out, or has a newer machine they can tell me what is in theyre machine, or can possibly point me in the correct direction. Thank you in advance!

For the price difference, I'd think the cheaper bulbs are worth a try.

I purchased 2 LED's, 2 driver's and a tube of thermal grease on evilbay for a total of $35 shipped to my door. I bought 2 sets of each so I could fix both lights and I have the parts in stock and not have to wait for them. Now when my right light goes out, I can take it and swap it out same day if I need. Below is a quick run down of what I did. Below it I will attach pictures of the process. If you have any questions or comments please ask/post. I will try to update this in a month and let everyone know how it turned out long term. However if you do not hear from me..... then that means it worked and I just forgot to update lol
The very first thing I did was to compare the driver voltages between the new and the old to see if my old drivers were bad and were the culprit in the LED burning out or if it was just the LED. Hooking up to the same 110V outlet I got 44VDC output on both drivers. I tested the old driver on the new LED to see if it would light up and it worked! Had it on for only a few seconds as I didn't have the LED mounted to the case for cooling. I decided to just go for it. I soldered up the new LED. I sanded the case with scotchbrite and used acetone to clean the inside. I put the new thermal pasted on, then screwed in the LED. I then powered up the LED again now that it has cooling and let it sit for 15 min. I kept checking the temp of the case and comparing it to the temp of the case that is still installed in the machine and working and both seem to be the same. I felt confident that the LED would be fine. I went to install the O-ring and notice that it just isn't the correct size. When I took apart the case the first time it sorta just fell out so never notice it wasn't right. I did NOT want to cut the O-ring..... but that was the best option I had. I cut the O-ring with the cuts slanting outwards and down to hopefully stop coolant from dripping into the case. After cutting it fits perfect. I installed the glass and installed the trim ring. Then into the machine it went. One thing I noticed is the color isn't the exact same as the one I have in the machine. However that could be because they are truly slightly different colors or one is new and one is old. New LED is the LEFT side and the Old LED is the RIGHT side.
