Need Fadal Ballscrew information pls
Hello.
I would like to replace the ballscrews on a Fadal 3016 metric DC machine.
I dont want/need specialised ball screws
to run chiller fluid though so would like to get some solid ballscrews rather than the specific parts and part numbers from the maintenance manual.
Hopefully someone can provide the specs on the xyz ballscrews of a fadal 3016 metric along the lines of diameter, pitch and particularly grade (C ??), fadal ball nut bolt pattern end dimensions etc.
This info would be great to be able to source the equivalent in solid ball screws and move away from the standard chiller through ball screws which I dont really use.
Many thanks for the info!
Cheers,
Marty.

You can just unhook them and either block the lines or make it loop to reroute the dowfrost away. that's what I did on my machine, no leaks and no problems, I agree with getting away with the chilled ballscrews, it just washes the grease away from the thrust bearings if the oil seals go bad. Just a thought if you can't find a source for them. My machine is a 4020 and I haven't had any problems since I unhooked them about 2 years ago, and I've done some pretty heavy stuff.

I think he just needs new ball screws in general and is wondering to get some without the lines in them since he probably has disconnected it like you did.
He may be trying to save money vs the ones with the holes in them.

Yes, quite right, I disconnected the chiller lines many years ago and havent looked back.
So I am looking for the specs so that I can source some solid ones hopefully at a more economical level given I dont want or need the complexity of a hole through the entire ball screw.
I could take mine out and measure them up but would prefer to keep the machine operational. Neither the fadal maint manual or the parts suppliers have any detailed info on the matter.
Thanks again.
I don’t know if the metric machines came without cool power but check and see if the VMC15XT metric screws fit and if they have a non cooled version of those.
Re: Need Fadal Ballscrew information pls
Hi. I have revisited this post as I am still searching for the information listed in the OP.
Again wondering if anyone can tell me the bolt hole pattern of the nuts and the measurements/thread of the machined ends of the ballscrew for this machine. Want to buy some generic non-chiller through ball screws and machine the ends to suit before pulling the old ones off.
So if anyone has the dimensions and threads of the ballscrew ends and their class (C7??) I'm still quite interested.
Thanks.
