LPT crazy
hi all i've tried for a long time kcam, then i have installed the mach2 demo, then mach1 demo and still cncplayer demo...but yesterday my cnc doesn't work anymore, wich each of these program my motors make noise only boring noise and so they didn't turn. i have so tried to change pc and all work fine so i sure that is a problem of lpt. I use xp sp2 and i can't understand how solve my problem, probably one of these program is in conflict, i don't know i would like to have a solution. Many thanks in advance

restore?
Have you tried restoring your OS from a previous day? XP has usually does a backup every week or during installs, so you could use the restore to get back to where you were prior to trying out Mach2.

yes, I've tried yet but it doesn't change the situation, I don't know how to do. there's a method to reinstall the lpt port with the original config?

My first guess would be to right click on My Computer, click Properties, then go to the hardware tab, then click on Device Manager. I'd make sure that the Mach 2 device driver is uninstalled, if not, right click on it and click Uninstall, then reboot. If that doesn't fix it, then try removing the LTP1 port under Ports and reboot and let XP reinstall it.

Also check your kcam config to make sure your still pointed to the right port and correct pins. Perhaps your config got changed. I have the HobbyCNC board and it seems like the default config was wrong for this board.

thanks for your reply, i have check all hundrend time, I have also uninstall the mach2 and also the lpt port, now i have fix the irq on 7 and now my motors turn but really slow and unregular there a problem on lpt gestion but i can't find yet.

Hate to say it, but it sounds like the port is fried. Usually removing the device will prompt XP to automatically find it. I don't know if booting to safe mode will find the new hardware or not, but may be worth a shot. Other than that you may want to look for an add-on Ltp card on ebay.

sorry, maybe i'm not clear, holding up the irq of my lpt on "7" like the same valor of my mainboard, all seems to work but not like usual, so i suppose there is another problem, the lpt work well i sure, i tried a printer and it work fine, probably i must format and reinstall winxp if i haven't any other choice. My lpt is surely not dead but it is seriously wound :)

ah, so which mode are you running on the ltp port? Standard, EPP, or EPC? Check your bios setting for it. I started mine running Standard and found EPP worked much better. Hope this helps...If not let me know and I'll keep making suggestions :o
