Digitizing probe help

Hey i'm new to the forum so if this is in the wrong spot just let me know.

but we've got a shop saber cnc at my place of work and we are trying to use the digitizing probe to copy old parts so we can get new duplicates made but every time i use the probe it will eventually lift it's self off of my work piece and ill get a line stating probe stuck-clear probe and press enter, I've figured out how to clear the probe (simply flicking it a couple of time s and letting it find center again will let it run.) but this keeps happening, and I need to correct it all of my scans are developing....mountains from where the probe lifts and then slowly finds it's way back down like it's counting all of the data points along the way.

my best guess is that at some point the probe gets stuck inside the sensor and I'm able to get that reset but, how do i prevent this/is there some way for me to check the sensor and or clean it to prevent this kind of issue am i missing something else all and any help is appreciated.
