2005 Daewoo Puma 240L Spindle-1 Temp at 83’C
What is the maximum temperature for the spindle bearing before the machine stops? Will the machine stop itself?
We’ve had some alarming noise from the machine and haven’t been able to determine exact source.
It’s time and temperature related but... intermittent.

At 72 Celsius the kluber will start to break down.
But thermal expansion on damaged bearings causes more damage, causes more heat, causes more expansion, causes more damage...
The sensors in an integrated motor, monitor the potential overheat of the stator, not the bearings.
If the machine is equipped with bearing probes they will note that it is hot, but not guaranteed to stop before a catastrophic issue.

Recommendation is to
contact your local dealer for a spindle vibration analysis.
Bearing noise.
Belt noise.
Spindle Balance noise.
Motor balance noise.
Analysis would determine which.
Each is resolved differently.

Dhardt: What is the source of the 403 line temperature within diagnostics?
The actual source name and location of the temperature probe for this 403 line of information.
Attached is a photo of our Spindle Motor.
Photo was taken in March of 2020.
Note: April of 2020 we had a dealer technician arrive and service the machine.
Late December 2020, less than two weeks ago, we had a dealer technician arrive and look at our Daewoo. He couldn’t find anything wrong.
The noise would not recreate itself.
I wasn’t there during this service.
I don’t know if the machine was observed at different rpms and temperature and vibration monitored.
We were basically given a thumbs up.
So we ran the machine.
Due to previous noise issues, I began monitoring the machine and it’s temperature more closely.
This resulted in the recent line of questions.
Can you tell me the location of the temperature derived from line 403.
Can you tell me what temperature the machine will stop.
In March of 2020, the machine would stop at 72C.
Something has changed and I don’t know how or what changed it.
Last note: During operation... with the spindle speed and load % displayed in the operator interface. I see S4100 and L149% constant.
At what load % might I see a alarm? Would it shutdown the machine?

403 is the Fanuc tempature of the Spindle Motor, not the spindle. Here is what the manual says about that diagnostic parameter. The Alpha i
spindle motors overheat at 105°C (over 221°F). The spinlde load should never run above 100% for any lenth of time. Ramp up and ramp down you expect to see something but running normally you need to be below 100%

I would like to email you a photo of the spindle motor to determine if it is indeed the A1 you referred to.
