Could a defunct flatbed printer be repurposed into a CNC?

Hey all, We're a small sign and graphics company that owns a now defunct 5'x10 flatbed UV printer whose manufacturer has abandoned all service parts, ink and support.

Basically the thing is a big work table now, but it is sturdy as hell, has machined side rails that the printhead gantry runs on and all the internal electronics and motors to do an X and Y axis as well as some vertical movements. It has a built in vacuum system to hold down materials.

I have no idea if it is of any interest to any ambitious DIYers here and hate to see it just go to the scrap yard.

If anyone has any interest, feedback or ideas of a good use of this thing, I'm all ears.

I'd guess he's near chicago.

Probably do ok for a laser. Maybe a vinyl cutter. I suspect at least the control electronics would need to be replaced. Maybe the drivers could be reused.

We're actually in California exactly halfway between LA and SF.
