Need some input on USB controllers running Gecko 251X’s

I have ran my DIY CNC for a little over 10 years, having minimal difficulties with it, but recently my old XP PC was in the stages of giving up, and I lost the magic smoke from my original parallel controller.

So I want to keep those 251’s but add a much newer PC running Win 10 and a USB controller.

I ordered a SainSmart USB controller, and have struggled getting them to answer standard connection questions.
I sent a email to Gerry (2010 screen set developer) and he was concerned about the reliability in probing.

Has anyone used the SainSmart USB controller with 251’s? Need the wiring connections.
Any experience with probing reliability?
