X3 Gas Strut
The gas strut on my X3 has gone west again, as Hugh is out of stock does anyone know the newton rating of these stuts? so I can buy one that has more lift.
I suspect the ones fitted by Syil are under speced, has anyone else had this problem
Would Syil care to comment?
Thanks

Solved the problem!! Gas struts have an oil seal on the cylinder, with the cylinder at the top the oil flows into the seal, however if the cylinder is at the bottom oil flow away from the seal and it dries out, result strut failure.
Syil in all there wisdom are installing the gas struts upside down.
I would be interested to hear from Syil regards this matter

You can recharge it.
Put in a piece of pipe, seal it and add compressed air.
Only needs setting to 35-40KG. Original Syil charge is too high, and makes the head 'dance' on it.
Yes, put the thin part down.
Better still add 80+mm to the Z travel...
