Gecko G540 is this sound causing my cut quality problems??
Anyone running Gecko G540. Is this sound normal? I wonder if something electronic is causing some of my issues... idk if you can tell in the video but I noticed while jogging it seems to stuffer or catch sometimes randomly. Figured maybe it was mechanical so I pulled the motor and you can hear/feel it still. Not sure if it’s the Gecko, or a problem with the signal from the computer to the Gecko

Hi,
That ticking won’t be the G540.
If you are using Mach3 ands printer port, the usual cause will be interference from another program running in the background. In the days gone by QuickTime was the usual culprit.
Run the Mach3 driver test and see how smooth the kernel is.

I had clicking noises when I was trying out Windows 7 bench testing. It was a lot worse than yours though.
Gave up and went back to XP and it stopped.
I'd say mine was down to the parallel driver either corrupt or interfered with.
XP sp3 + Mach3, old, outdated, but it bloody works!.
Prob don't help you much.

Switching to a motion controller instead of the parallel port should get rid of that.

Thanks for all the input. My drivertest says excellent but the line has spikes, not flat. I think I will install a fresh copy of XP and see how that goes(currently win7 32bit).
Re: Gecko G540 is this sound causing my cut quality problems??
Drivertest either says excellent, or fail. I don't think there's any middle ground.

i read a few places that you want a flat line, idk if that is true but mine isnt flat however it does say excellent.... I would like to get a smoothstepper but not ready to spend the money if there is no gain. the older dell im using works fine, unless its causing my problem lol
