Optimizing "New" Mori Frontier-L1

My job just got a 1997 Mori Seiki Frontier L1 with a MSC-521 control and i have been tasked with getting it up and running. I had previously worked on a Femco Durga-13E with a Fanuc O-T control and i was told that the Mori would be similar to that.

I have managed to get it running correctly, but i am having a couple problems running it as quickly as i could on the Femco. How do i get the Mori to start in the middle of a program? Also, i may be overthinking this, but i cannot figure out how to set the work shift, so i have been touching off every tool and changing the z geometry.
