Servo drive help and a cnc leadwell vmc 25 retrofit

Hi All
Can Anyone Assist i have been reading a prev threads re encoders and re resolution ect

I picked up a Vmc 25 lead well Mill and i am busy retrofitting it and mech refrub it also
New to the electronic config of the drive side but learning fast

Your Advice and views
Reg trying to match the existing mitsibushi HA 80 C 1 kw motor and tag mod 5k encoder With a compatible new drive
Or is it better to poss replace the entire motor and drive to match due to poss encoder matching and config issues

What is the gen Best route Most take or is it worth Persevering trying to match a Compat drive
