Need Help About steppers in new machine build
Hello everyone
Iam bulilding a new machine,Cutting Size 4 x 4 foot.
Materials is Mostly in square tubbing scheddule 2.5mm, 50 x 50 mm and 25 x 50mm
Gantry's weight is near 100 pounds includind wires and router
V wheels over 19 mm angle rails
I will use 2 steppers in Y axis
Screws will be 1/2 x 10TPI 5 Starts with antibackslash nuts
Materials to cut will be, soft plastic, acrilic plastic, and soft wood.
Do you think that I can use this machine with
420 in/oz bipolar steppers and a 36 volts Kelling drivers?

Pay attention to the inductance of the steppers. I didn't do that when I purchased mine. My 270oz motors had a little over 5mH inductance and really needed 70v to run them to full potential. I'm only pushing 48v into them with no problem so far. Since you're using two motors to power your Y, you might not need that much torque on those two motors....just a thought.
