South Bend SB1001 CNC Lathe wth the least rigidity, stepper power, controller power

A while back I did a CNC conversion of a South Bend SB1001 lathe using 3D printed plastic parts, an Arduino for the controller, and fairly weak stepper motors. I bought this lathe to do a CNC conversion, and still believe the lathe is a great base to work from, with minimal parts discarded after the conversion. Not having a mill to make parts, I turned to a 3D printer. While I never thought the the combination would work well, I wanted to know how bad it would be. I put together a video on the project, and I hope it's OK to share YouTube videos here. It's not to be taken too seriously, but there may be bits that are interesting.

If you have any questions or comments please let me know. I would like to get back to this project, may be this fall. The best of what I learn from others could find its way into version two. :idea:
