CNC Machinist & Fabricator

Schnabel Geostructural is a specialized construction company engaged in underground construction and drilling operations. We've been in business for over 60 years and we take care of our people.

We are looking for a CNC operator for our heavy equipment repair and fabrication shop in Strasburg, VA. This is a position with tremendous variety. The CNC operator supports the work of about 8 mechanics and also works with our company R&D team to implement new ideas.

Schnabel is looking for an individual who can set up and operate a CNC mill and a CNC lathe in both manual and conversational CNC modes. This individual will be expected to read engineered drawings and plan prototype fabrications including work holding and tool selection as well as program/operate the machines. You must be able to read drawings, set up machines and work independently and be responsible for verifying final fit and assembly of components.

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:
• 5 years of experience (to include set-up and programming experience)
• High school diploma/GED required
• Technical schooling desired
• Read drawings
• Program conversational CNC
• Tooling selection
• Mill and Lathe operation
• Fitting and assembly
• Strong mechanical aptitude and good math and measuring skills
