Slave proble...possible solution question...
Hello, I have a slave problem posted here: https://www.cnczone.com/forums/mach-...-software.html
I am wondering if I just connect both motors to the Y axis from my control board....? Im thinking there isnt enough power to run both motors from one plug?
Does anyone know if I am able to do this or if it would even work or will create other problems?

You can run two steppers off one drive but why do you need to? Stepper drives are inexpensive.

So I have a machine where two steppers are wired to one stepper drive but the steppers are connected to the ends of the same belt.
In the case of a slaved Y axis you normally have two separate belts or lead screws. If you can not control each motor then you won’t be able to home the machine properly. Meaning any twist or racking of the Y axis that occurs will remain. These machines also have two Y axis limit switches which MACH3 works with quite well.
3d printers sometimes wire both Z stepper motors to the same drive. They can get away with it because they don’t go far and no loads to cause the racking.
