Future Fadal Purchase in Residential Garage
I am looking to buy a Fadal machine to put in my detached residential garage. I am pretty sure the concrete floor is only 4". Should I stick to the ~5,000# machines like the VMC15 or would a heavier machine like the ~8,000# VMC3016 be ok on a 4" slab?
There will be no other CNC machines operating at the same time. I would have a van in the garage at the same time.
Thanks

I’m no engineer or CNC installer but I know there are plenty of people with 8K lb machines on residential slabs. I have a VMC 40 (older sibling of the 2216) in my garage with a vehicle that parks in there every once and a while. My machine is a little over 8K pounds. Haven’t had issues yet.

I have a vmc5020a and vmc15 next to each other on a 4-5” slab no cracking no issues.
Re: Future Fadal Purchase in Residential Garage
I have a 10,200 lb CNC lathe sitting on a 4 inch slab, haven't had any problems yet.
Re: Future Fadal Purchase in Residential Garage
I have a 3016L in my garage/shop and no issues with the floor.
Re: Future Fadal Purchase in Residential Garage
Well then, I will buy two 8,000# machines and stack them on top of each other to save floor space <- internet humor and sarcasm.
Thanks for the overwhelming replies, and great news. I thought I was limited to the size of machine (VMC15) due to weight. This opens up my search a lot and will allow me to hopefully end up with the larger table, extended Z travel, and 10K spindle I was hoping for.
Now the search begins.

I have the following
4020 with 28inch z axis - 4.5tonne at a guess
Vmc10 - 3tonne
Daewoo 8s lathe 4tonne
Daewoo 10hc lathe close to 5tonne
Leadwell mcv0-p vmc 3.5tonne
All on a 4inch slab at home.
