desktop cnc engraver steel
Hi guys,
We are a medal shop and we are looking to bring the die manufacturing in house,
Our dies are either made of steel or stainless steel.
We don't care how much time the engraving will take.
So my question is : What desktop CNC should I be looking into?
Re: desktop cnc engraver steel
Engraving isn't too difficult for most CNC routers; they typically have fast spindles which work well with tiny pointed tools. But if you need to make the dies as well as engrave on them, that will rule out the routers, since they don't have the rigidity or the right kind of spindle for machining operations on steel (not to mention stainless). For that, you'd need a mill of some kind. The Taig mills with the new VSS motor assemblies would probably be suitable, if your dies are small enough to fit its part envelope.
