Hey all,
Just trying to see if anyone had made or bought an engraving machine for this purpose. I am needing it to mark 80%, hand guards, jewelry if need be, something with fine detail. Thanks
Jon

my I ask what are you trying to mark on your 80%
Yeah I made the mistake of buying a Chinese 6040 CNC router with the 2200 w spindle motor. And it is the wrong machine. my friend has a Tormach and it does all the engraving and CNC work wants done. Or you might be better off with a fibre laser,, much better for carving intricate designs in metal

I made an adapter to hold an pneumatic pencil grinder in my cnc spindle. It holds a 1/8 tool and turns over 50,000 rpm. I use f-engrave to generate g-code for text like the sn, "fire," "safe," etc. It also does graphics, but my machine doesn't have buffered input so I need to break graphics into multiple files. I prefer the 20 degree 0.1 mm v-bit for a fine line.
Your CNC machine is far more superior on the one I used, I only used a 1500W spindle on a 6040, but I can make any parts I want on it, my only edge to you is I custom sharpened my carbide tool bits and I programmed my tool paths in a custom CAM process :) im running my spindle @ 24K RPM all the way.
