It's a Washing W-31DT if that helps.
You could set each tool Z zero to the chuck face, and each tool X zero to the spindle centerline. Then all you need to know is how far the work is sticking out from the chuck.
Any Photos of Control ...etc?
If its so old you may need to do G50 X.... Z..... From part zero.

Yes there are a couple of test programs in the memory of the controller. Well the "user manual" I got has very little in it and I think it's written in "Chinglish" no help at all

The last line of the program is missing the M30 the other 2 programs on the machine do have it on the last line.
