Milltronics Partner V, centurion IV control Spindle Brake issue
Looking for any assistance in figuring out a problem with an old machine.
I've had this machine for over 10 years, great shape never any big issues.
I recently moved the machine to my home shop. Powered with a rotary phase converter( I have run the machine on a phase converter before)
I cannot get the spindle brake to release when I press the spindle CCW or CW button in manual mode.
The spindle speed control is manual hand-wheel, not controlled by speed controller.
I believe I have all of the machine manuals and circuit diagrams, but I'm not that versed in reading old circuit diagrams.
Could I have a bad relay? other issues?????
Any assistance would be appreciated

Re: Milltronics Partner V, centurion IV control Spindle Brake issue
Hi Jeff, The Z axis is a brake motor The spindle motor does NOT have a brake, per say, there is a solenoid valve that activates the "manual" brake lever thru a pneumatic cylinder.
This activated by and output from the control to energize the solenoid valve that drives the pneumatic cylinder.
The spindle CW or CCW is controlled by an output to the (I think) the MC5 (CW) or MC6 (CCW) contactors.
You should give me a call.

Do you have air to the machine? My brake is energized when you hit e-stop and a lot of times the brake is on enough to stop the spindle motor from starting when I turn the machine on if I forget to turn on the air pressure. If you have air pressure, I would check the solenoid and make sure the cylinder is moving to lock/unlock the brake.

Thank you for all of the suggestions, Sporty Bob hit the nail on the head. Just had to replace a couple relays and bingo!.
Hey Sporty Bob, looks like you are in my neck of the woods, Minnesota. Did you work for Milltronics? You seem to have good knowledge of their machines.
If so, have you done any programming with MasterCam and Centurion 4 posts? Im having some trouble getting R, I, J, X,Y outputs
