The actual size of the doors and windows should be measured before the actual cutting. The actual size of the glass is usually reduced by 3mm from the actual size of the doors and windows to facilitate installation.

Holding the knife is the key action of glass cutting. The thickness of the marking and the size of the force exert a certain influence on the separation of the glass. It is necessary to grasp the size of the force and the direction and angle of the knife. According to the glass of different thickness use different specifications of the ruler; if cutting 2 - 3mm thick glass, can use 12mmXl2mm fine wood straight ruler; cut 4 - 6mm thick glass, can use 4mmX 50mm wood ruler; cut width 8 - 12mm glass, the need to use the 5mm X30mm wooden ruler; sometimes can use a ruler according to the operator's habit.When cutting, use wood folding rule or steel tape to measure the size of the glass frame, and then cut the size on the ruler. Consider leaving 3mm neutral and 2mm knife edge. when cutting 2 - 3mm thick glass, the small nail on the ruler can be put on the side of the glass.The glass knife is close to the other end of the ruler, the one hand holds the glass edge that is next to the small nail, and the other hand grasps the edge straight and backward.

The method of cutting 5 - 6mm thick glass is that, in addition to the use of different ruler, the kerosene should be brushed on the cutting edge in advance, and the kerosene will infiltrate into the knife edge after cutting through the glass, which will easily pull off.

When cutting large pieces of glass, because of the large glass area, people can not operate on the ground, so it is necessary for the operator to take off the shoe to cut on the glass surface. Therefore, under the glass (the table surface), a layer of flannelette must be padded to make the glass uniformly compressed. Hold one end of the glass tightly with both hands when pulling off the glass after cutting,and the other end uses the weight of the glass's self weight or the weight of a certain weight.
