Wrapping a sheet metal part around another part with sketched bends?

I have a part with an irregular shape and I would like to fit another part around it. The 2nd part is defined as a sheet metal part so I can bend it and when it is straight apply some patterns to it. The problem is that I can't seem to find the right spot to insert the sketch so the bend will come out the way I want. How do you normally do this?

Is this an assembly or a multi body part. Solidworks has only recently allowed multi body parts for sheet metal. It is still not easy to get multi body sheet metal parts in one part file.

Get your master part as you want it and save it with a new configuration. Insert the configured part in a new assembly. Create a new part in assembly mode, extract what you want, then save the part.
