Okuma 700M Memory Disk Format Error and Floppy Disk Read/Write Error
Good morning all,
I have an issue with my Okuma 700M, MX-45. I need to re-install software because I am getting "128 Memory Disk Format ERROR"; when I plug in the first floppy disk and flip on install mode, I get "130 floppy disk read/write Error 40100046". I've changed out the floppy disk drive, the cable, and the FR board inside the Okuma, but still getting both these errors. What else can I try to resolve this issue?
Thanks,

I'm not as familiar with OPS700 as what I am u10 so I'm not sure how the memory is laid out. On the u10 there is 3 memory cards one is SRAM, one is DRAM, and one is Flash Ram. The DRAM equates to MD/Memory Disk, The Flash Ram equates to FR.

Right, but where does the issue lie if I have changed out the FR board, the cable from FR board to floppy disk drive, and the floppy disk drive itself? If I have changed out all 3 of these with known working parts, what else can I check?
Re: Okuma 700M Memory Disk Format Error and Floppy Disk Read/Write Error
Perhaps you have more than one issue which always make diagnosis worse. Maybe the floppy disk has degraded and lost some info and you are only finding that out because of the MD issue. Or perhaps the main board has begun to fail starting with the IO.

Firstly, you must check health of floppies.
Re: Okuma 700M Memory Disk Format Error and Floppy Disk Read/Write Error
How can I check the health of floppy disk? Am I able to plug the floppy disk into a different PC or can this only be read through the floppy drive on the Okuma?

I think my Floppies are good, I am getting a red light on my Main Board 1 (MB1) under the SBER led light. I am also getting a cpu bus alarm / error on the screen. I am looking this alarm up now, anyone has seen this one before and have some insight on it?

Re: Okuma 700M Memory Disk Format Error and Floppy Disk Read/Write Error
I looked up the error address below DE000000 in the manual, it is pointing me towards the CMOS on MB1. Is the CMOS on the board or on the DRAM card? I have both new MB1 boards and DRAM cards, but no luck with either of these.
Also, in the manual, it says if you have red LED on for SBER, then there is an issue in one of the slave cards (which I assume to be any card but the MB1).
So one error is telling me to replace MB1, the other error is saying to replace one of the slave cards. This troubleshooting is all very vague. https://www.cnczone.com/forums/attac...d=423788&stc=1
Re: Okuma 700M Memory Disk Format Error and Floppy Disk Read/Write Error
I believe CMOS is the DRAM. You gotta love how Okuma will call the same thing 2-3 different names.

Check battery.
MEM board may false.
if you have floppy disk with machine, then I can help you.

Did you figure out what the issue was?
I am having similar problems, and hoped to get some insight from issues others have had.
Thank you!
