Re: 1100m Spindle Rebuild
Without knowing what kind of bearings are used in the 1100m compared to the pcnc it's hard to say. General good practice with any kind of tapered/angular contact bearings mounted as a pair on opposite ends of a shaft, is to load them towards each other though so the simple answer without any further information is yes, point the arrows the same as the diagram you posted.
Re: 1100m Spindle Rebuild
HP7008c-2RzTA/P5 DBB and HP7007c-2RzTA/P5 DBB are what came out. And I purchased 7008C-DT P5 7007C-DT P5. So problem solved, I bought the wrong bearings.
Thank you for the help!

Re: 1100m Spindle Rebuild
The correct bearings are ordered and will take several weeks to get here. Since I have assembled and disassembled the spindle several times with the incorrect DT bearing sets, I no longer consider those bearing usable. I do understand that what I did today is not correct, but it did get the mill running. Flipped over one of the DT bearings in each pair to make two sets of unmatched DB bearings. After assembling the spindle and running the machine for about 20 minutes the temperature was at 120F and climbing. Removed the spindle and took off a bit of preload. Seems to be good now.
Attached is my first try a printing a cap to keep dirt and chips out of the bearings. I may add an upturned lip to the top and also slope the top down.
Re: 1100m Spindle Rebuild
I would worry about 3D printed plastic melting, and before melting, shrinking because of the heat.
