SSR or mechanical relay to turn on spindle?

Wondering if it is preferable to use an SSR or mechanical relay to turn on/off my 110v Kress spindle with the controller? Have heard mechanical relays can cause EMI noise.

I have an old Techo Davinci, retrofitted with Mach 3 and Gecko G540, using the original Techno power supply w/ 5vdc. I'd use the 5vdc for the relay, and mount it in a separate box outside.

Looking at these 2 relays:

Appreciate any advice, electronics is my weak subject, altho I did manage the retrofit, with some good advice.

Mechanical relays should not be noisy. the pulse from coil switching can be defeated with a diode (DC coil) or R/C snubber for AC coil.
The SSR should also work just as well.
The second option does not appear to be a mechanical relay?
You will experience much more EMI from the motor itself than any relay.
They are Universal motors.

I emailed about the IoT Relay to get clarification, but I'm going to get it either way, seems so simple to use

Looking through the data sheet, it does show a single SPDT relay as the source.

Dumb question, but does that suggest SSR or mechanical?

It suggests mechanical type.

Those two are both mechanical relays, not SSRs.

If your spindle is turned on and off frequently, I would suggest an SSR. Otherwise, a mechanical relay will work just as good.

Mostly just want to have it turned off when the program is finished, so I know it's done.

Going by the size of the unit, I would guess it uses the PCT type of cube relay.
I prefer the traditional style of relay, a little larger, but the rating is a little more realistic.
The pins on the PCT type never appear to have a very high current rating.
Also the inrush current of a Universal motor is quite high.

My router 800 watts, 7 amps, thought I'd be ok with 25 amp rating.

That is typical running current, the momentary inrush is much higher.
I am suspicious of the true rating of the typical small cube relays, if this is what the unit is fitted with.
Especially when you compare them to a traditional control relay rating and design.

I use SSR when turning routers on. For some reason I had to put a ceiling fan capacitor in parallel in order to get it to work. Don’t recall what it was doing without the capacitor. Keep in mind these routers have electronics for safety reasons like no volt protection. You switch it on and plug it in and it should not start up.
