Hi,
I am fairly new to alphacam and i am using it now to create basic programs for a cnc machine.
But in the future we want to create more complex items.
For this we want to use inventor to create the item then import it to alphacam to create the machine program.
But when i try to import any file into alphacam it gives an error message "Failed to translate"
Does anybody know why this happens.
Or do i need to do something special with the inventor file?

When you select "input cad" does it give a list of file types?
The type of alphacam your using might be restricting to type of file you can insert
You just need to have the newest InventorWiever - it's free - AC uses this to convert .ipt files

When i try to select "input cad" it gives a whole list of options including inventor.
Then when i select that it gives me the option to select the file.
So i select an inventor part file (ipt) and click import.
Then it gives me the error.
I have Inventor 2019 and Inventor View 2019 Installed on the machine
Hi, try to upload a file to here - then it's easier to answer - we normally just use "drag and drop" from folder to AC - no problems..
Comes to my mind - but should not be a problem if You have Inventor, and not just the viewer? But the viewer 2019 needs viewer 2018 installed as well, as it misses some translators

I also tried to install inventor view 2018 but that also doesn't work
add is a test file (just a simple block) that has been made in inventor 2019 and gives me the errors

thats weird since it just is a zip file with the inventor file in it
it wont allow me to attach the inventor file direct
