Need help with 3040 CNC & Mach3 Settings.
Hello!
I new in CNC, Can someone help me with settings on Mach3 and 3040 CNC. When I connect this CNC to my computer and open Mach3 my CNC can move only on Z axis and Y axis. This machine with a parallel port, I use UC100 CNC motion controller for connecting to USB on my laptop Windows 10.
Thank you for your help.
Stan

What happens if you attach the leads from an axis that works to the X axis? If it comes to life, then it might be that your pin assignments are incorrect. If not, then you might have a bad cable or connection.
Re: Need help with 3040 CNC & Mach3 Settings.
yes, if I attach the leads to X-axis, X-axis work.
Re: Need help with 3040 CNC & Mach3 Settings.
I still need help. Please!
Re: Need help with 3040 CNC & Mach3 Settings.
These machines often ship with incorrect information about which pin goes where. See if you can find a correct pin-out. If that's not the problem, you might have a bad cable, a bad connection, or a bad drive. None of these are particularly uncommon. Replacing the whole control system with something decent usually makes these machines work a lot better.

What control system do you recommend?
Thank you.
Re: Need help with 3040 CNC & Mach3 Settings.
The consensus choice around here is the Geckodrive G-540, which combines the functions of a breakout board and 4 drives: G540 4-Axis Motor Control | GeckoDrive . Give it a 48v power supply, mount it on a heatsink with a fan, and your machine will likely work a lot better.

Is it a REAL UC100 or a fake? There are a lot of fake ones on eBay, read this post:
http://www.cnczone.com/forums/uccnc-...20228-cnc.html
If your UC100 is real than you should have no problems with that. However, probably you need to follow the manuals. Download the UC100 manual from here:
http://cncdrive.com/MC/UC100%20datas...rs%20guide.pdf
...but you also need the Mach3 manual to configure the pins. You must also know how your CNC is wired.
Don't start buying drivers or other stuff before you are ABSOLUTELY sure that you must and before you actually identified the problem. It is most probably just a question of configuration or some wiring. Maybe the X step or enable signal is lose or broken.

Why give him this advise at this stage? Also, what sort of "consensus" are you talking about? There are many alternatives to Gecko, but regardless of which, it is not time for him to decide on that right now. In which way would he be helped if he ripped out everything and replaced it with something new without knowing what is wrong? How do you know it is not a stepper that is broken, or just as simple as a lose wire?

Don't throw money out the window unless you have too much of it... :)
Find out what's wrong first before you waste a few hundred $$$ and many hours on something you don't need.
