G71 and IF statements in Haas

Hi all.
I work in a production shop that produces shafts for conveyor rollers. These shafts vary slightly in dimensions for different clearances or bearing fits but have the same general shape. I wrote a macro that uses g71 to rough turn the profile and I have an if statement in the pq block. I test ran my macro in NC plot and everything works hunky dory but when I take it to the Haas controller it alarms out with "unexpected code". Can the controller read the statements in the canned cycle pq block? Or is it most likely a syntax error?
