Question about PWM - do I need it to control my NEJE 30W laser

I'm in the final stages of a build for a laser engraver. Right now I'm using an Arduino Uno r3 with a Protoneer CNC Shield to control motion. The CNC Shield has outputs for Spindle Enable and Direction, but I don't see anything for PWM control. My question is, do I need PWM control for the laser to control the power. If I do, any recommendation for a controller board that will fill the bill? I am totally new to laser technology, so please go easy on me. I don't know if i am leaving out any pertinent information, so please ask questions and I'll do my bet to answer them. I was planning to use LaserGRBL, but would be open to using other software if it would be better suited to my hardware. Lightburn or...

I guess that you need PWM for laser power control.
To be able to control power, parameter $32 should be set to 1 ($32=1) - Laser mode ON

PWM output is available at the circled pins.
