OI-MC series -- FOCAS Help required to get data
Hi All
We are looking to get data out of a cnc machine that has fanuc controller (series OI-MC). The controller has a serial port and i am not sure if there is a pcmcia card slot although looking through the data sheet I believe we can add one to the controller.
I have used Focas library earlier on latest series of CNC machines that has Ethernet out and it is quite simple.
In the current scenario I want to know if the below is possible,
1) can I connect to serial port of cnc machine with my laptop directly and use a focas based application to get data out of it directly.
2) Can i use a serial to Ethernet converter and then use the Ethernet out to my laptop and use focas based application to get data out of it.
In the 2nd point how would i know the IP address of the cnc controller.
Thanks

You can use the Embedded port on the CNC. It is located on the back side of the controller. (Behind the monitor)

Thanks for your response. Are you talking about the embedded Ethernet port ??
Should I just connect the LAN cable and use the FOCAS libraries ??
Re: OI-MC series -- FOCAS Help required to get data
Ethernet on the 0i-MC is an option check you have it
depending what data you want out you can use DPRINT commands via RS232

Yes, I am referring to the Fanuc sells FAS Connect to just what you want to do. They have a free 30 day Demo that you can try before you buy. D72F-0499-PB00 FAS SOLUTIONS DEMO DVD Check it out. You should have the embedded Ethernet port.
Re: OI-MC series -- FOCAS Help required to get data
0imc should come standard with Ethernet. Fanuc lists it as standard, high speed Ethernet is an option .

Hello,
For some Fanuc CNC’s we observe Focas2 inside PCMCIA option. It doesn’t has EMBED option and not even the embedded ethernet port. In such cases, how to connect and collect data using Focas2 library?
Any reply is thankful

Hi there - I know it's been years but I have a question. I have a Fanuc 0i-MC controller on a milling machine. It has the ethernet port on the side of the controller box. I can plug in a network cable - but how do I transfer files on/off the controller? I have not been able to find any instructions yet where it connects to a network or server.
Any help much appreciated!

hey
look for B-64115EN/03 manual where you will find how to setup your network
