Cannot home x axis on 84 Brugmaster vtc 150 with Fanuc mainbd # A16b-1010-0050-036A

Hello,
I can only move X axis in one direction with jog or step commands. It will move very slowly the other way with the pulse generator. No IPM shows as being input on the monitor in jog, but does shown with pulse generator. Think it may have lost absolute 0 so the control is prohibbiting? This uses a general numeric console with all else fanuc. Y and Z will home.I think all parameters are intact. Cannot figure out how to overide the write protection so any help there would also be appreciated.Please see screen shot of the start screen.

Thanks Alex, i will see if that is what the issue is. Do you have any knowledge of the early General Numeric controls on how to turn off the write protection for parameters?

General Numeric was the North American marketing arm for Siemens & Fanuc. The controls were Fanuc. You have a model 11 control. PWE is set on the SETTINGS:SETTINGS page.

parameter 8000 bit 0 must =1 on on the SETTINGS:SETTINGS page

Thanks for the help. I was able to get the write protection off and on again. There is no deceleration switch. Just hard overtravel and homing switches. I still think the X axis lost the O position and that is not allowing it to home and therefore nothing else can run until this is fixed. I tried moving the table until the home position switch was just activated and then operating the pulse coder to register 0. That did not work. Any other suggestions on how to further trouble shoot the homing issue appreciated.

Check the desceleration switch for the axes
How do you know the machine does not have desceleration switches?

Unfortunately I do not have a wiring diagram for the mill. I am not sure that whatever receives the jog command from the button is getting it. The wires from the buttons are all tied tight and made up very tight and make it difficult to trace. I think that starts as a 24 volt signal and then runs through the resistor bank of switch settings before ending up at the PLC as an input ? The fact that the pulse generator will move the axis in the negative direction seems to show that path as valid. None of the axis will move more than very slow with the pulse generator - but Y and Z move like they should with jog button settings and X moves in the positive direction like it should. There are three limit switches on each axis, Two of these are for hard overtravel and the third is the homing switch. The machine does not travel fast and then slow down to home like many do. It travels at a fairly slow speed all the way to the limit and then reverses to just off the limit..One more reason I think the control is limiting the pulse generator speed is that I changed the parameter for pulse travel per input pulse from 100 to 500 and there was no change in the speed of the axis with the pulse generator. Were the parameters you asked about what you expected Alex?

I asked about those parameters because you said "There is no deceleration switch."
Maybe the deceleration switch is "on" all the time . This is the reason the axes move very slow.
Try changing parameter 1850. Write down the value, and change it by 500. See what happens.
Please tell me the following parameters:
1400,1401,1417,1420,1422,1424,1425

Parameter 1850 was 0 for x, 10000 for y and 3633 for z. Changed x to 500. Saw no change in any of the move profiles for button jog, hand wheel, or homing speed. Turned control off and on again to make sure. Still no change.

There is a skip from 1401 to 1420, so unless those parameters are under a different heading they don't seem to be there.

Alex Fanuc I hope your still out there.I got the new switch in and can now home the X axis. Now I have another issue. When I first turn the machine on and before I home it I can jog the Z axis down and up. After I home it the Z axis does not respond to jog anymore. I can enter single move commands in MDI for X and Y and they work, but always in rapid regardless of the feed rate given.There is no response to MDI command for Z. The homing speeds are still slow from start to end. The DRO for machine position goes to 0 when homed, but I don't know if the X is homing in the exact right position it did before. Any suggestions on trouble shooting these symptons?

You have an interlock in the Z axis. DGN 72 bit 4 should be a one.
DGN 64 bit 4 is one for the X axis =ok
DGN 68 bit 4 is one for the Y axis = ok

You need to check why the Z axis has an interlock.
Is this a vertical machine?
Something is not in position so the machine will prohibit the Z axis to move . The Z axis will move when everything is ok to move.
The three axis did home ok. You can tell by looking at diagnostics 264, 268 and 272 bit zero = 1.

It is a vertical mill and it has a tool changer. I do not think the spindle drive is 100 %. Do you think it wants the spindle to be in the correct tool change rotation before it is satisfied? I have not wanted to spend the money on sending in the spindle drive for repair before being relatively sure the mill will run otherwise.
