Looking for right CNC knife machine for cutting thick paper chipboard

I need to buy a CNC machine cut up to 4mm thick paper chipboard into various shapes. Need this to make prototypes out of thick chipboard.

I've never worked with CNC machines before. Want to use knife cutting only.

Any clarification or information would be most appreciated.

So you don't need the CNC machine to actually cut the thick chipboard and make your prototypes? That's where a CNC router would come in handy. 4mm is a bit thick for a drag-knife cutter, even if it was cardboard and not chipboard. Have you looked into laser cutters?

Thanks for your reply. Yes we've used routers. They tore up the board. We've used knife cutters for the board. I think they had to cut twice to get through. The designs we're cutting are pretty detailed as well. Laser cutters burnt the board.

Thanks for your reply!! The bed would be about 24 x 24", or 36 x 36" so small. So would an oscillating cutter be better than a drag knife for cutting thick 4mm board?

Bought a CNC from them. not much training, missing items and does not honour the pricing. Software is very limited and outdated.

Make sure you check their software. This is VERY important. Many companies talk a lot about their hardware but little or nothing much on their software.

The software is crucial for the ease of use.
