ER20 collet chuck nut is too short?
Hello,
I'm new to here and new to CNC. Apologize in advance if I'm asking too basic questions.
I'm working with a wood working CNC from Laguna, swift series. It has a water cooling spindle with ER20 chucking.
This collet chuck nut turns only 2-3 revolution to get snug.
Is this normal only 2-3 threads are working to hold a bit?
I'm asking this because someone said that he cross threaded and ended up to replace entire spindle...
Want to avoid that.
Also so many unused thread on spindle as you see in attached pic.
Is this chucking nut too short? or I'm using too long sleeve etc.?
Best regards,

Only 3 threads is way to little to hold a bit firm.
An ER collet has to be put in the nut before you attach the nut. This has to be done the right way. Look at this video to see how its done.

Re: ER20 collet chuck nut is too short?
I've tried to snap sleeve into nut before inserting bit.
Tightening feel is more solid than before. I really appreciate your help!
Nut is turning only 3 revolutions still... ( It was 2 revolutions though)
But I can tighten more than before. It is a big improvement.
Thank you for educating me!
