Laser perpendicular to surface? Distance?
Hello everyone,
i want to build a machine to cut 3d items. I am choosing between laser and milling. Do you know is the laser beam needs to be perpendicular to the surface of the item at all times and what is the maximum distance from the head to the item surface? Also do u suggest CO2 or fiber lasers for cutting 1/4'' plastic (nylon 12).
Thanks
John
Re: Laser perpendicular to surface? Distance?
Hello,
Normally the laser beam must be perpendicular to the material and must respect a distance to the material called focal distance determined by the focusing lens.
There are laser cutting machines that work like a robotic arm, but that's already beyond my knowledge.
Best regards
