Is everybody using fusion 360 using the mach3 post processor? Did you have to edit it at all? Going to try my first cam through it this week and trying to get all my ducks in a row...

I have, but there's a G28(IIRC) line in there that messes things up. I've just been putting a "%" in front of the line and it works fine after that. Seems there was one at the end that caused me some grief too. I don't know how to edit the post processor to make it stop doing that.
I only machine one part so far with Fusion, but it is about to become many many more. :)
I just used the standard Mach 3 post and there are things that I do not like about it, but I will get by I think.
To start with you MUST HOME the machine. Otherwise it screws something up with the offsets.
I did notice that there is a CNC Router Parts post in there now. Not sure how this one differs from the run of the mill (punny?) Mach 3 post.
I am designing several things in Fusion now that will need machining on both the CRP router and the Pulsar. Oh and the Tormach lathe too, but Adam has been creating a great post for it.
Lee.....when you say that you must home it, are you referring to the G28(return to reference position) or just simply doing a ref all before starting?
Ref all Home before you start the Gcode. We don't usually bother refing the machine home. It still retains X and Y axis positions from the day before if we don't. Then just a matter of setting Z with the master tool and hit Cycle Start.
Don't try that with any code from Fusion or you will see some NovaKONFusion. ;)
I also like to set my tool change positions for different jobs. Depending on the part and the job, that is better left up to me than the CAM software. Since I do not have an automatic tool changer, it should be my choice of where to park it to change the tool. I am only asking for a dialogue box and a line or two in the Post. :(
I could not get those guys over there to see that my way, so I place my TCP code in there myself, nenner nenner. :)
not surprised there lee, my post I had to go on on and on at them to do what I need, it still has problems what they won't fix, the same as you, when it is tool change time it stops, I move it to where I can get at the spindle, change tool, set hight, hit start it goes to where it stopped, then goes to the next start spot, it realy anoying have the machine go from one end of the table to the other then it comes back
Right. Some of my tools are long drill bits.
I run two double vises, so the bed is pretty much loaded with parts locked in place. You can't just change a tool like that just anywhere. It has been awhile since I let it run normal, but it still acts oddly. I suggest when you first try it out, put you most expensive..........least expensive tool holder in there with no tool in it until you see the motion.
Never start a spindle without a tool holder in the collet and don't ask me just how I know that. ;)
not sure what you mean lee, it's a big router I am not tall enough to reach over to the middle of the table, I would like it to move to a predetermined position but it does not, I tried to get that set but no one would do and I don't know how to do it myself
I haven't looked at the CNC Router Parts post yet, but it may do what you want.
At the end of each process in the Gcode when you need to change a tool, delete the G28. That would take it back Home. Insert the X and Y position that you want and go there at feedrate. For instance on my router, my TCP is something like X14 Y3 Z3. So my line would look like G01 F25 X14 Y3 Z3.
It might be better to place the Z3 on a line by itself first if you don not have safe Z enabled. So G00 Z3 is what that line would look like.
Then go with the X and Y moves on the next line.

I was of the understanding that I needed to ref all every time I fire the machine up. Since I don't use the mill everyday, I've always ref'd it when I turn it on.
In your last comment.....you told him to "Insert the X and Y position that you want and go there at feedrate." I'm curious why you say to do it at feedrate. I would have thought it a rapid move......but as a beginner, my assumptions seem to break things. lol
I try not to test code at rapid rates. :) Slow and steady like the turtle until I know I haven't misplaced a dash or dot. Then I just change it to G00. F25 won't matter at that point, but that can be deleted too.
I should of been a bit more clearer this is the tool change output, it has a G28 at the start what is fine as home is usually at the same place as X and Y work Zero, the Machines is too big to use the home switches all the time.

what happens as you can see in the code it stops goes to Z machine zero, then I move it so I can get at the spindle, change tool, set tool hight, hit run with the spindle starting as well, it goes back to where it first stopped, then onto the next starting position. I still can't find why it goes back to the position where it stopped before going to the next cutting position this is one thing I want to get stopped, with the Vectric post it does not do this silly move at all I will have a look at that over post you said about.
some of the people on the HSM forum are no it all's and won't do what you asked to be done at if they don't like that idea, that includes the resellers and staff, they like to stay in the nice safe box and don't want to try new things unless it comes from ADSK.
just like the wrapping function fusion has now ADSK don't want anything to do with it at all, the people who commented on my requisition ever said it could not be done or weight to 4th and 5th axis continuous is finished, well Mark proved them wrong and it works fine.
lee the CNC Router Parts post you can turn G28 off it does a G0 Z10 it moved to X0 Y5 Z5 for tool change ( I did not set this) then goes back to the last line before the G0 Z10 after you hit start then to the next start position so it's still doing a wasteful move.
I am going to have to hammer them over this to get it fixed, more HSM staff to hate me or fusion staff, it fun when they mention your name that they are doing something you demanded, in a not so nice way, then on the next update they remove it.
When I leave the first G28 line in, it gives me a Z axis soft limit exceeded warning when I try to start the code. The one at the end of the code gave me an X axis soft limit exceeded.
How does that happen. On my mach3 version restart zeros everything. I need to move to X0Y0 before shutdown to retain position.Quote:

I have a VERY custom POST for HSMXpress/Fusion that I can post, provided I'm not asked to give any support for it, other than how to use the most important features. It provides a lot of added functionality, like the ability to insert prompted "stops" (the machine stops, coolant and spindle are turned off, it moves to a defined position, and prompts the user to do something, then continues where it left off when CycleStart is clicked). Toolchange position, and "Park" position can be specified in fixture coordinates or machine coordinates, SRO and FRO can be modified in the g-code on either a global, or per-operation basis, to avoid having to re-generate the g-code. It also outputs code that will run directly in CutViewer Mill, which I find invaluable for validating code before running it for the first time on the machine - CutViewer will often find things the HSMXpress/Fusion simulator will miss. It also writes nice, readable, commented G-code, with user-provided comments in each operation "header" like the below.
