Help with Encoder and Gecko G320X
I recently purchased a ISEL router with the servo motor option. I would like to convert to Mach3 using the G320X. I was wondering if someone could tell me how to wire encoder? I found these specs for the encoder but not sure which connections are needed for the G320X? I could easily replace with steppers but would like to use the factory servos for better resolution. thanks in advance.
1000PPR 1/4INCH SHAFT
1 - red - +5vdc input
2 - yellow - I output
3 - blue - Q output
4 - orange - index output
5 - brown - *index output
6 - no connect
7 - white - *I output
8 - green - *Q output
9 - black - ground
The signals shown above with the "*" in front of them are the inverse of the corresponding signal without the "*". The outputs are 0-5vdc, and for example, whenever the 'Q output' is at +5vdc, the '*Q output' will be at 0vdc.
Re: Help with Encoder and Gecko G320X
What is the part number or details of the encoder?
Simply you would have A & B pulses and the complement of them. plus the marker Z pulse.
Which it seems you have, which is a standard increment encoder.
Re: Help with Encoder and Gecko G320X
Thanks for the reply! The part # on encoder is Renco 77822-033. I could not find any info on it. I stumbled across another thread showing the color pinouts. So a Gecko 320X will run this type of servo?
Re: Help with Encoder and Gecko G320X
According to the G320x it only has A & B pulse input and no Z pulse input, so in this case, the AB complements would be left unconnected, including no Z pulse.
Re: Help with Encoder and Gecko G320X
Thank you.. So i would hook up:
2 - yellow - I output ---> Gecko "Channel A"
3 - blue - Q output ------> Gecko "Channel B"?
Re: Help with Encoder and Gecko G320X
looks like 2 & 7 in your OP?
Two are the A-B quadrature pins, the complements of them are left unconnected.
Generally they are notated A, /A & B /B , the /notated ones are the complements.
