Live tooling tutorial

Greetings! I have been looking through the site for a while had many questions answered by using the search function. However I can not find anything on programming for live tooling. I can not find any tutorials on it or generating the cad for it either.
I run a machine shop in the Navy. I have 5 CNC machines (SL-20, ST-20, ST-20 live tooling, toolroom mill, and a waterjet) All of my CAD-CAM knowledge is self taught. Between tutorials and manuals I can usually get the job done.

Does anyone know where i can find a live tooling tutorial or direct me to a distance training program or DVD that will cover this that is not exorbinantly expensive? (If it isn't in the Navy's "accredited" schools list this is out of pocket for me)

I assume by "live tooling" you mean for the ST-20 lathe. Many times it is more efficient to program these operations manually and not rely on the CAD/CAM (face drilling, cross drilling, milling flats or slots).

There is 2 in the mcam lathe tutorial book
Not much more that I know about

Ok then how do I manually program flats on a ST-20 with a 5/8 endmill to an 18mm flat to flat (9mm radius) dimension?
Stainless steel with a 1.125in OD.

With Y axis? Or X and C only?

For X and C only, I think it would be something like:

(You put in the Z position.)
C0.
G01 X0.875
X0.6668 C50.9558
X0.875 C101.9116

G0 X1.
C180.
X0.6668 C230.9558
X0.875 C281.9116

G0 X1.

But that might not give you true flats. You might have to include a radius in the tool path. Been a while since I have done this.

Yeah, you will have to switch to Cartesian (G112) and G17 plane and program it as X and Y. See page 145 of the lathe manual for an example.
