    rack and pinion rough

    i have a second new k2 50 x50 machine and...
this one has rack and pinion for the x and y axis'
the machine works fine but the two axis' do not have a smooth movement,
they seem a little rough !
i am not sure if the adjustments on the gears are too tight or two loose ?
    any suggestions ?
i have been cutting with it for almost a year but the roughness is driving me crazy !
my first machine was all ball screws and is really smooth !
should i expect the same performance from this one ?
it seems every few inches it is repitetious up and down the table!
    help
    thanks
    bo

I really cannot speak for the K2 machine but other machines using rack and pinion with atleast 3:1 gear reduction and steppers are getting very smooth cuts.
