I’m building a CNCRP 60x120 machine using AC Servos and have been looking at options for planetary reduction gearboxes.

As the price of the gearboxes seems to go up exponentially as backlash in arcmins goes down from say 25 to 7 appreciate some advice on real world experience with machine accuracy?

I'm using 400W AC servos on my machine, and paid about $125 each for chinese 10:1 gearboxes with I think 8 arc min of backlash. The actual amount of backlash that you'll see will depend on the pinion size. If you do the math, you'll find that it's a pretty small amount, maybe in the .001-.002" range.

I haven't used them yet, though, so can't give any real world experience.
