    Lightbulb Resin Casting

    Hi.

I would like to make translucent objects in resin. I am a bit overwhelmed by the diversity of resins. I am not sure which one is the best option for me.

I'd like to buy pigments and have different results of colours, translucency.

    Also-
I wanna use a rubber mold - is silicon the best? (i wanna make my own mold).

Can you recommend me suitable products? Any advice is welcome.

Thank you so much! your help is much appreciated.

I usually buy resins from Douglas and Sturgess in Richmond CA. Douglas and Sturgess

They sell epoxy, polyester, and urethane resins, and have some good information about them on their site. You can also call them if you have additional questions.

I don't usually list specific suppliers if the poster doesn't give a few clues about which continent they are located on.I hope, maybe wrongly, that they can use a search engine to find a source of material or local information after all, they may have done just that to arrive here.It obviously helps if they give us the information and so many don't.Most of the global suppliers of resins will have something suitable and sometimes the challenge is finding a company who will talk to a hobbyist about supplying hobby quantities. If you might be buying several tons they usually have technical advisers who are happy to talk through the options and maybe send a sample or two.
