    Re: Assistance Identifying Min-Lathe

I just bought a lathe that was an aborted CNC conversion. It's missing most of the same parts. I'm shopping also, but for a different (bigger) lathe.

LMS and Grizzly are my go-tos for minilathe...

    Re: Replacement X2 Motor Controller

The KBIC-120 is the only one I have used. It has the standard 0-10V (actually the manual shows 0-7") input terminals for motor speed.

Re: Where to buy used G0704 motor boards?

If it's a brushless like the ones used on the LMS machines, there is no aftermarket.
There IS a guy on ebay who will repair your board. Check with him and see if he does the G0704 boards.
  5. Re: Labvolt 5400 5500 5600 update firmware procedure????

I did all that work and kept detailed notes. All the notes went with the machine when I sold it in December.
However, I don't know that I would use the same components I did then.

    I would start...
  6. Re: Labvolt 5400 5500 5600 update firmware procedure????

There are USB to Ethernet and possibly USB to Parallel pot convertors. I don't know if they would work in this application, but they are cheap.

But I think you are SOL. There is a reason...

The Sherline RT is a high-quality precision tool. Everything else on the market in that size and price range is ....a Chinese tool. The Sherline is worth the extra money.
  9. Re: Dyna Myte 2400 -- Can Newbie Safely Buy for $400? Help?

At that price I would be all over it. You can improved the performance with modern steppers and electronics and still be under $1000

I wouldn't be so quick to dis the parallel port. It has some unique capabilities specific to our needs that are hard to replicate with newer I/O choices. If you are on a budget, all the inexpensive...

It's an 8-wire motor. I have the spec showing correct wiring (linked above).
The supplier's answer seems at odds with that, or at best incomplete.

Based on that, I guess i should check the motor...

    This just doesn't make sense.
Besides what appears to be a typo ("Green to B+, Black to B+" also on the linked page) this does not agree with any of the 3 connection diagrams on the spec sheet.

Would I be better off to replace the encoders with some AMT units, that are documented?
